Top ten seed companies worldwide

Last year was the year of changes in seed company’s mergers and acquisitions as number of changes were visualized in the current situations. This has brought major changes in seed industry where Chinese native companies have stepped into global seed arena. The merger between Bayer-Monsanto and DowDuPont was a major breakthrough thus leading to the two superpower and stronger entities, which will set an example for the coming generations and complete picture related to seed industries priority list.

At the same time among the top 10 seed companies two Chinese companies have emerged which are Syngenta and Longping High- Tech.  The year 2018 is expected to bring lot of changes in the seed industries platform with the collaborations and divestments of many mergers like Syngenta moving apart from seed acquisition and Bayer-Monsanto’s further divestments. Expected to hear the newcomer Basf and the growth of Longping High-Tech will bring a new storyline for worldwide seed industry.

The year 2017 has brought major changes in the seed business. Three big names in the seed industry are at the verge of end. In June, ChemChina took over the world largest pesticide and third largest seed company Syngenta. Mid of the year showed the big change as the DoDupont came into the market dissolving Dow Chemical and DuPont. The new entity having the market value of approximately $130 billion. Bayer and Monsanto are still working on making their mergers which are continuously being opposed by EU but has passed the US Committee on Foreign Investment checks and due to other reasons, some more declarations are expected to be heard in the year 2018.

Bayer and Monsanto have dissolved many of its activities and bringing out major changes like Bayer has divested its seed business and herbicide business to BASF. Bayer which was never the part of seed business has now among the top ten seed companies. In similar way the merger between DOW and DuPont has resulted in the divestment of the Brazilian corn seed business of Dow Agro Sciences which has been taken over by China’s Longping Hi-Tech through the collaboration with CITIC’S agriculture foundation.

The Company Longping Hi-Tech has also invested in many other ventures like  Hubei Huimin Agro Technology, Hebei Universe, Beijing Sunrise Agritech, Hunan Golden Rice. It is coming out as the largest Chinese native company. The sale of the company will certainly bring it to the one in the topper’s list.
