The pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a tropical plant with edible fruit and the most economically significant plant. The pineapple originated in South America, where it has been cultivated for several centuries. It is a very delicious and healthy fruit. Europeans named it after its resemblance to a pinecone. They are super-sweet, but pineapples are extremely low in calories.
