Savannah Seeds Acquires Rice Seed Assets of Ganga Kaveri, Spriha Seeds

Ltd. located in Gurugram on 28th February , 2019  announced acquisition of the rice seed assets of Ganga Kaveri & Spriha Seeds of Hyderabad.  Ganga Kaveri Seeds is one of the leading providers of superior rice seed genetics serving the farmers in India for over 30 years.  Ganga Kaveri and its ‘GK’ & ‘Spriha’ brands are well known across the country as trustworthy suppliers of high-quality seeds.  The scope as well as performance of Ganga Kaveri’s product portfolio has endorsed the company’s growth by offering the right technology to meet the requirements of rice farmers. 

On the other hand, Savannah Seeds that entered the Indian rice seed business in the year 2010 has quickly emerged as one of the top providers of hybrid rice seeds. The company introduced environment friendly ‘Smart rice’ technology in the country for sustainable rice crop production. Savannah rice seed products like Sava 127, 134, 200 & 300 are very popular among paddy growers of north & central region farmers.  

Global CEO of RiceTec AG, Mike Gumina said,   “This acquisition is the perfect fit for the Savannah Seeds business in India.  The synergies in products, traits, geographies, people & culture will allow us to serve a broader cross-section of Indian rice producers”.

Because of this acquisition, around 90 seed professionals will join the Savannah business. CEO & Managing Director of Savannah Seeds, Ajai Rana said, “We are very excited about the opportunity this acquisition brings to speed up the growth of our seed business & to serve more growers with our technology across rice growing states in India as well as exports to South East Asian nations”.
