Normally the average farmers of India are cultivating traditional crops and not getting much profit out of it. Mr Bhagwan Singh of Bharatpur district of Rajasthan was cultivating Mustard in his 7 bighas of land as his ancestors were doing. He was fed up of being a farmer. He gambled to grow Guavas at his plot. He planted 300 guava plant in his land at the cost of just Rs. 500 in the year 2007. The variety is L- 39 which is very sweet and seedless.
The quality made its demand in Agra, Mathura and even in Delhi. Now a days every year, he is earning more than Rs. 5 lac from his orchard and happy to become horticulturist rather than a traditional agriculturist.
