UN Global Compact Network India and Echo Forum are organizing their 1st Agri Supply Chain Summit on 27 & 28 August 2021 in virtual mode to create resilient supply chains, ensure food security for all and promote the sustainable livelihood of our farmers.
Theme: 'Aligning agriculture supply chains with SDGs: Promoting Decent Work Standards'
GCNI and ECHO Forum have partnered together to initiate this dialogue among various Agri Supply Chain stakeholders through our 1st Virtual Agri Supply Chain Summit. The Summit is supported by NCML, Diageo, BIMTECH and Socioladder. PWC is our knowledge partner and SustainEverse is the Host Portal.
Purpose of Summit:

According to the World Bank, agriculture has the potential for market-based economic development that can create benefits through national or regional agricultural value chains globally, especially in South Asia.

Agricultural supply chain covers the entire chain of activities from production on the farm to processing, distribution, and retailing to the consumer. In fact, agricultural supply chains and networks play an important role in providing producers access to markets; they affect economic, social and environmental sustainability of farming intensive communities.

Sustainable agriculture supply chains have great potential to address many challenges along the lines of serving up affordable and nutritious food, up-skilling laborers, providing alternate sources of energy, strengthening livelihoods, revitalizing rural and urban landscapes, delivering inclusive national growth, and driving positive change across the 2030 Agenda- Achieving the UN SDGs by 2030.

Today agriculture supply chains globally have been exposed to unprecedented risks following COVID-19. It is necessary to understand and mitigate the impact of risks and to create resilient supply chains to ensure food security for all and sustaining the livelihood of the farmers.
