Lodging

The Propensity of some agricultural plants, especially cereal grains like wheat, rye, and barley, to bend over and break near ground level and get flattened against the ground, making them very challenging to harvest and potentially reducing production. The most frequent weather-related causes of lodging are torrential rainfall, hail, and violent winds; however, animal trampling is also a possibility.
