Viewing these problems, central government has started PM Kusum scheme (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evemUtthan Mahabhiyan) to eradicate water problems from farm lands across remote areas through solar pumps.

At the same time, solar pump schemes are also being run by the state governments to provide more relief to the farmers. Farmers will get a good amount of subsidy on purchasing Solar Pump for their agricultural lands which can reduce half of the problems faced by the farmers every year.

Madhya Pradesh Solar Pump Scheme

Chief Minister Solar Pump Scheme(Mukhya Mantri Solar Pump Yojana) run by the state government of Madhya Pradesh has started with full swing. Under this, solar pumps will be made available at affordable rates by giving special grants to farmers. The target is to install 2 lakh solar pumps in the next three years. Out of which about 14 thousand 250 solar pumps have been installed so far. Solar pump plant will be used for irrigation only and it cannot be rented nor sold, says state agricultural official.

Solar Pump yojana: Key Points to Remember

1. Those applying under this scheme should have their own land for farming. Also, it is necessary to have a permanent source of irrigation.
2. To install a solar pump, consent will have to be obtained from Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation Limited.
3. The installation of solar pump will be completed within about 120 days of receiving the amount. The time period can be extended under special circumstances.

How to apply for Solar Pump Yojana?

  • One can apply for the subsidy on solar pump on the official website of Kusum Yojana. Apart from this, farmers can also apply on the https://Cmsolarpump.Mp.Gov.In/ web portal.

  • You will get an option to 'apply here'.

  • Click on 'Apply Here' and you will get a form after clinking.

  • Farmer has to fill all his personal information.

  • Submit it as soon as you complete the form.

  • After completing all the procedures, you will get a message which will tell that you have registered yourself under the scheme.

Farmers will have to spend 10 percent

Under the Solar Pump Scheme, farmers will be provided solar pumps at a cheaper rate. Under this, farmers will have to spend only 10 percent. While 60 percent of the amount will be given by the government. The remaining 30 percent will be given by banks.

What is PM Kusum Yojana?

The scheme was announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the 2018-19 General Budget. In this scheme, the Central Government is spending 1.48 lakh crore rupees. The government aims to extend the benefit of this scheme to three crore farmers of the country by the year 2022.
