On Thursday, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the TRIFED’s Aadi Mahotsav tribal festival in New Delhi
He said that coming together of diverse tribal cultures of India at such event was “giving new heights to unity in diversity”
Aadi Mahotsav was inaugurated to celebrate tribal cultures and products in New Delhi.
Modi gave the government credit for the rise in interest in India's traditional goods.
“During earlier governments, cutting bamboo was restricted. We have lifted this [restriction]. This has led to a great demand for bamboo products,” he said.
He claimed that the event will also include marketing assistance and skill development.
He said the PM Vishwakarma Yojana had been introduced for traditional craftsmen.
The prime minister made reference to President Droupadi Murmu and remarked that she was a tribal woman "making India proud at the highest office."
The two-week-long event will showcase tribal artifacts, handicrafts, handlooms, and other products at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
“Today, India goes to some of the world’s biggest stages and presents the Adivasi culture as its own proudly,” he said
