From being a farmer to a bank worker and a social worker, Sushma Kumari
wears many hats.
Sushma works in the State Bank of India and helps marginal farmers to
open their bank accounts and benefit from government schemes.
In 2005, Sushma had to go through a difficult divorce. Her struggles
motivated her to help other women farmers to raise their issues.
In the rural parts, Sushma addresses women’s issues such as gender
inequality, divorce, harassment, and domestic violence.
Sushma helps women sell raw turmeric, and mushrooms making them earn
more than a lakh per month.
Seeing her efforts, in 2017, she was made the district president of the
Himachal Nari Sabha, National Federation of Indian Women.
