The 11th Edition of Food Tech Kerala 2021 is organized as a Hybrid Expo and will be accessible to visitors all over the region as both Physical & Online Expo. It is the State’s largest trade fair and a ‘must not miss’ exhibition for all organizations involved in food processing and packaging sector to showcase their products and services.
The main aim of this meet is to promote and develop these sectors and related trade by disseminating information and knowledge to processors traders, packaging units, retailers and others involved in the food chain. The 3-day Exhibition will showcase broad spectrum of technology, equipments, solutions for food processing dairy, beverage, food retailing, refrigeration & cold, chain, processed foods, hygienic & healthy foods, packaging etc.

Kerala has been a major exporter of Spices, Cashews, Marine Products, Tea, Coffee etc. Kerala accounts for nearly 20% of Country’s food exports. Kerala has been the base from where spices, cashew and marine export industries spread to other parts of the Country.

Food Processing Industry is regarded as the ‘Sunrise Industry’ of the State and Kerala has a fairly strong base of food processing industries. This sector plays a major role in the economic development of the State and various studies reveal that its contribution to output and value added and employment increased during the recent years.

Kerala is blessed with bounty of agricultural produces like spices, coconut, rubber, coffee, tea, cardamom, pepper, areca nut and other hill products, Considering the emerging market for organic food, both domestic and international, the State has an enormous capacity to cater the market with quality products. Food Processing Industry has made a major headway in Ernakulam District, with the district having as many as 4,500 agro-based units with a total investment to the tune of Rs.900 crore. The units employ more than 40,000 people and have a total turnover of Rs.6000 crore. Some of the units are also involved in exports and earn more than Rs.700 crore from export business.

The State in general has a total of 69,000 food processing industrial units and form 23% of the total industrial enterprises in the State. The food processing industry in the district has various products including spices, fish and meat, oil and extracts and ready–to-eat products.
