Webinar 2 on Applications of Gene Editing in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security in Asia-Pacific Region will be organized by The Asia and Pacific Seed Association on 04 August 2021 (Timing: 10:30 am - 12:30 pm ICT (GMT+7) in virtual format.
The 2nd webinar will take place over the course of 3-days and will cover key aspects, include presentations by subject specific experts and followed by panel discussion.
Purpose of Webinar:

Applications of gene-editing to advance agricultural sustainability and nutrition security is receiving significant interest, with a rich pipeline of gene edited plants being developed by public and private sector organizations across the Asian continent.

In anticipation of large-scale commercialization of gene-edited plants, important regional consultations have been convened to identify and address associated policy and regulatory issues. There is a clear need for science-based, predictable and proportionate regulations to encourage innovations in gene editing.

It has also been highlighted that the harmonization of approaches within the Asia-Pacific region is important for collaboration in research, capacity development, regulation, and trade.
