Webinar on Meeting the Contraceptive Needs of India’s Young People: Challenges and Opportunities

ASSOCHAM and MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership: India are partnering to organize a thought-provoking webinar “Meeting the Contraceptive Needs of India’s Young People: Challenges and Opportunities” on Friday, 24th September 2021 at 11.00 AM to 12.30 PM on the eve of the ‘World Contraceptive Day’.

Importance of Webinar:

  • Young people, aged 15–29 years, comprise more than 27.5% of India’s population and, according to the National Youth Policy 2014, contribute about 34% of India’s gross national income. The adolescent cohort (10-19 years) currently at 253 million is expected to swell further to nearly half a billion in the next ten years. Reaping this demographic dividend would require concerted action among various stakeholders including the public and private sector, to ensure that they emerge as productive contributors to the economy.

  • The ‘World Contraceptive Day’ aims to improve awareness of all contraceptive methods available and to enable young people to make informed choices on their sexual and reproductive health. This webinar will feature a distinguished panel who will deliberate on existing market constraints that impede access to contraception as well as emerging opportunities that could be leveraged.

  • Ensuring a well-functioning market where young people get access to a method of their choice at a price that they can afford necessities addressing market constraints that impede access.  ASSOCHAM hosts the secretariat of the Condom Alliance and is committed to engaging with various market actors to improve the health of contraceptive market while serving the cause of safeguarding the health of India’s growing young population.
