The banana peel is the outer cover of the banana fruit. Usually, people throw away the peel after eating the fruit. But did you know that the banana peel is full of nutrients and rather than throwing it away, you can use it to improve your skin and hair?

Banana peel is the cover of the banana fruit. While most people throw away the peels, many cultures use the peels as a cooking ingredient and even use them as feedstock for goats. Poultry, monkeys, fish, and other animals. Generally, the peel contains less fibre than the main fruit itself, however, it is still a rich source of vitamin B6, vitamin B12, magnesium, and potassium. At night, after washing your face rub the banana peel across your skin to reduce wrinkles and brighten skin. The antioxidant present in the banana peel reduces the oxidative process and remove free radicals from your body.

Shinier, healthier hair- Banana peels make a great ingredient for hair masks. Blend a banana peel and mix it with some yogurt or egg and apply on your hair for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour. As discussed earlier, banana peels have anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties. Therefore, it cleans the roots and removes build-up. It makes the hair softer, shinier, stronger, and healthier in appearance.

Whiter, cleaner teeth- Banana peels are a rich source of potassium, manganese, and magnesium. All of these essential nutrients help remove stains. All you need to do is rub the inside of the peel directly on your teeth until a thin layer of paste is formed. Leave your teeth as it is with the help of a teeth guard and avoid touching your teeth with your tongue. After 10 minutes, use a dry brush to remove the paste from your mouth, and then use toothpaste for a fresh mouth feel. You’ll start noticing whiter and brighter teeth in less than 2 weeks.

Removes skin warts- In many cultures, banana peels are used to remove skin warts and prevent them from occurring repeatedly in the same place. To heal skin warts, wrap the banana to the affected area overnight or rub the peel before going to bed.

Reduces symptoms of depression and other mood disorders- Consuming banana peels can reduce the symptoms of depression and other mood disorders as it has high levels of tryptophan and vitamin B6 which positively impact our sleeping pattern and help in the production of serotonin.

Reduces skin puffiness- Banana peels have anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, rubbing it can reduce skin puffiness and even reduce the puffiness caused by acne. Making a skin mask with banana peels can also reduce acne scars, and moisturize and hydrate the skin.

Relieves pain- Banana peels can be directly on top of a painful area to relieve pain as it exhibits anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.

Treat bug bits- Our skin becomes itchy and irritated after being bitten by small bugs. However, rubbing banana peel can reduce these symptoms by increasing blood circulation and reducing inflammation.

Moisturize feet- Banana peels are a rich source of several vitamins and minerals that keep our skin healthy. Rubbing banana peels on the soles of your feet before washing them can crack heels and treat itchy and dry skin.

There are other uses of banana peel as well. For instance, banana peel can be added to the soil as worm food and as a deterrent to aphids. They can also be used to polish leather or faux-leather shoes.
