Ambuja Foundation is all set to revive 26 water bodies in Nagaur and and Pali regions of Rajasthan. The objective is to complete the rejuvenation process before the upcoming monsoon season. This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister's vision of developing and rejuvenating 75 water bodies in each district of the country, known as 'Amrit Sarovar', as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration.

Reviving these water bodies will result in an additional water storage capacity of 232,000 cm and make 17 villages self-sufficient in water. To ensure sustainability, the Ambuja Foundation will encourage community participation by forming community-based institutions. The community will be involved in tasks such as soil excavation, providing machinery support for excavation, and using tractors to transport silt removed from the ponds. The silt is considered beneficial for soil moisture, and its removal will help farmers improve crop productivity in the upcoming seasons.

This initiative has received recognition from NITI Aayog, which will work closely with the district administrations of Nagaur and Pali to successfully implement the project before the monsoon. The Ambuja Foundation will also explore opportunities to align with various schemes run by the Department of Water Resources, Department of Rural Development, and Department of Land Resources to receive additional support.

Pearl Tiwari, Director & CEO of the Ambuja Foundation, expressed her thoughts on this initiative, stating that water had always been a key focus of their initiatives to create water-sufficient villages. She expressed gratitude towards NITI Aayog and the support of district administrations, mentioning that it would make it even easier for their team on the ground to complete the project.

The Ambuja Foundation, through its Water Resource Management program, has been actively working in Rajasthan for the past 19 years. Their efforts include reviving traditional water bodies, constructing or renovating water harvesting structures, and conserving soil moisture.

The foundation collaborates with like-minded organizations and communities to plan and execute these revivals, ensuring year-round water availability for farmers, families, and communities. Ambuja Foundation welcomes more partners and organizations with similar goals to join their efforts in creating a water-abundant Rajasthan, transforming it from a drought-prone region of the past.
