Attention PAN Card Holders! PAN Will Become Inoperative If Not Linked to Aadhaar Before This Date

PAN card holders must link their cards with their Aadhaar before March 31, 2023. If not, you won't be allowed to use it starting on April 1, 2023. The 10-digit unique alphanumeric number will stop working when the PAN card holders miss this deadline.

The Income Tax Department has mandated that the PAN card and Aadhaar be linked. According to an Income Tax Department's advice, if the two identification cards are not connected before March 31, 2023, the PAN card would expire. After that, users won't be able to access PAN-related services or file income tax returns.

"It is mandatory. Link it now, don't wait! All PAN holders who do not fall under the exempt category must link their permanent account numbers (PANs) with their Aadhaar before March 31, 2023, according to the I-T Act. According to the I-T Department's public advice, the unlinked PAN will stop functioning as of April 1, 2023.

What Happens When Your PAN Card Becomes Inoperative?

The PAN cardholder will be held responsible for all I-T Act effects and face a range of repercussions if their PAN card ceases to function.

The cardholders won't be able to submit I-T returns if PAN ceases to be functional.

On the other hand, since the pending returns won't be finalized, income taxpayers would also experience difficulties.

How to Link PAN Card with Aadhaar Card?

  • Visit incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in to access the Income Tax Department of India's official website.

  • In case you haven't already, register your ID.

  • Use your User ID, password, and birthdate to log into the site. Your PAN serves as the user ID while logging in (Permanent Account Number).

  • A pop-up window asking you to link your PAN with Aadhaar will appear.

  • Visit "Profile Settings" in the Menu bar and select "Link Aadhaar" from the homepage to link.

  • Put in your PAN, Aadhaar, and name as it appears on your Aadhaar card.

  • If true, select the "I have just year of birth in Aadhaar card" checkbox.

  • To verify, enter the Captcha code seen on the screen.

  • Select "Link Aadhaar" from the menu.

If your PAN and Aadhaar data and the information you provided are accurate. If your information is correct, select "connect now." Your PAN card and Aadhaar card will be successfully linked.
