Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari spoke to agriculture students at Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Agricultural University's 37th convocation ceremony via video conferencing. He emphasized the importance of agriculture as a sector and urged students to focus on its development rather than simply seeking employment opportunities.

The governor acknowledged that agriculture was the largest sector in the country and noted that it had continued to function even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many businesses had come to a halt.

Koshyari also urged scientists from the university to take their research directly to the farmers. He highlighted that this would benefit the agricultural sector by bridging the gap between research and practical implementation.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sharad Gadakh announced plans to develop one village from each district in the university's jurisdiction as a model village. He said that agriculture and other development activities would be implemented there, which would contribute to the growth and development of the region.

The convocation ceremony saw the participation of 4,327 students, including 30 PhD holders, 23 post-graduate students, and 1,922 students of graduate courses. This highlights the significance of the occasion and the commitment of the university to provide quality education and research opportunities to students in the field of agriculture.
