Krishi Jagran Invites IARI DDG & TRIFED Chairman for Upcoming Krishi Sanyantra to be Held in Odisha

Krishi Jagran is set to host one of the largest and most historical agri events, ‘Krishi Sanyantra’ in Odisha's Balasore on March 25-27. For the upcoming event, the Krishi Jagran team met with key agriculture think-tank Dr. US Gautam, DDG Extension, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi.

Dr Gautam began his Professional Career as Assistant Extension Specialist (Agriculture Extension) in KVK, RRS, Bajoura, Kullu, from Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishwa Vidhyalaya, in November, 1989, and he was selected as Senior Scientist in (1998), Principal Scientist & then Head, Socio Economic and Extension Research Programme (2001 to 2004) at ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Bihar.

He was also a recipient of several National/International Awards; among them some of important are “Swamy Sahajanand Saraswati Extension Scientist Award and ICAR Award for Outstanding Multidisciplinary Team Research in Agricultural and Allied Science” as a team leader. He was associated and nominated with numbers of scientific society and committees, who evolved for professional and agricultural development in the country.

He has written four book chapters, 9 research bulletins, 22 extension bulletins and more than 50 research papers in national and international journals. He has further handled several national and international multi-disciplinary projects focusing on 'improvement of livelihood of the farmers and alternative livelihood support system for marginal and women'.

Apart from Dr Gautam, KJ team also gave a heartfelt invitation to Ramsinh Rathwa, Chairman of TRIFED group.

Rathwa, who hails from Gujarat, is a politician, social activist, artist, agriculturist, and a business tycoon.

The latter is associated with various developmental activities for the upliftment of the weaker sections in Gujarat and with tribal development programmes and also with culture, dance, drama, tribal music and tribal arts activities.

As per TRIFED's official website, the organisation was was established in August 1987 under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 1984 by the Government of India as a National level Cooperative body under the administrative control of the then Ministry of Welfare of India, with the basic mandate of bringing about socio-economic development of tribals of the country by institutionalizing the trade of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) & Surplus Agricultural Produce (SAP) collected/ cultivated by them.

As a market developer and service provider, the objective of TRIFED is socio-economic development of tribal people in the country by way of marketing development of the tribal products on which the lives of tribals depends heavily as they spend most of their time and derive a major portion of their income.

Meanwhile, the forthcoming Krishi Sanyantra is yet another big agri fair from the house of Krishi Jagran that will witness a significant presence of researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, farmers, and others associated with the agri section.
