The Irrigation Association of India in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India is organizing a Conference on Micro Irrigation on the occasion of World Water Day (22nd March 2023) from 9 am onwards at the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, NASC Complex, PUSA DPS Marg, New Delhi, with the theme of the conference being ‘Per Drop More Crop: Unleashing the Potential of Micro Irrigation’.

Per Drop More Crop is a centrally funded micro-irrigation program run by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation, and Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW) as part of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY). The scheme is being put into place to improve the efficiency of water use. Fundamentally, the idea is to maximize crop yield while consuming the least amount of water.

By methodically boosting water productivity and conservation, especially in the agricultural sector, to free up water for other productive purposes, the "Per drop more crop" paradigm lays the groundwork for resolving water-related concerns. The purpose of the conference is to provide room for discussion among the many stakeholders on the various strategies for boosting micro irrigation's uptake in India.

The event will bring together representatives from the Central and State Governments, the Micro Irrigation Industry, farmers, NGOs, and growers on a single platform to discuss an all-encompassing strategy and pinpoint crucial success elements to increase the country's coverage of micro irrigation.

Stay tuned with Krishi Jagran to get updates on the most awaited conference.
