Israel Ambassador Gilon remarked during the inauguration of the irrigation system that it was designed in Israel and is one of the greatest ways to preserve water.

"We want to implement drip irrigation in all gardens soon. This is a continuous project that will only grow in size. This is one of the most effective strategies to conserve water. It originated in Israel. In terms of water management, Israel is a world leader. Israel reuses 90% of its water for agriculture," Gilon explained.

"We are pleased to share the drip irrigation system with the Children's Park near India Gate in order to aid them in their water saving efforts," he added. “This is another another example of Israel and India's diverse relationship in the subject of water. We are excited to work with NDMC to develop this park into a water-efficient park."

He further stated that both countries (India and Israel) are cooperating in the sphere of agricultural technologies.

"Water conservation is highly vital across the country and the world," Chellaiah, Director (Horticulture) at New Delhi Municipal Council, said in a separate statement. “We must learn to conserve water, and drip irrigation systems play an important role in this. We have begun this drip irrigation initiative, and if the trial is successful, we will expand it to other NDMC districts."

This drip irrigation system is a result of Israel's expanding collaboration with India and corresponds with India's Make-in-India drive.

Cutting-edge technology created in Israel to address water scarcity have helped position Israel as a world leader in all aspects of water management in recent decades. Israel is happy to offer its water expertise in order to enhance water security around the world, particularly with its dear friend India.
