Khadi Fest 2023 Begins at KVIC Headquarters, Mumbai

Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, inaugurated the Khadi Fest-23, which will take place at the KVIC Headquarters in Mumbai from January 27 to February 24, 2023, in the presence of Vinit Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, KVIC, and other senior officials.

Manoj Kumar stated in his inaugural address that KVIC has been entrusted with the responsibility of providing livelihood to the most backward and poor people in this country. He stated that events and exhibitions such as Khadi Fest give Khadi Institutions, PMEGP, and SFURTI units a platform to market the products of thousands of artisans directly to customers' hands.

 

He emphasized the importance of holding more such events in other parts of the country as well as abroad. According to the Chairman of KVIC, sales of Khadi and Village Industries products have increased unexpectedly following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's clarion call to the people of the country to buy Khadi and Village Industries products.

He urged the nation to make our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of "Vocal for Local and Local to Global" a reality. The Chairman also encouraged the officers and employees of KVIC to fulfil their responsibility for the upliftment of rural poor people. The live example is the highest ever sale of Rs more than 12 crore in the IITF-2022 held in Delhi in November.

 

This year, on October 2nd, the Delhi Outlet of Khadi India set an all-time new record for Khadi sales in a single day worth Rs 1.34 crore. It is worth noting that Khadi and village industry items achieved a record sale of one lakh fifteen thousand crores last year.

In addition, a sale of Rs. 3.03 crores was recorded at the Khadi Fest-2022, which was held on October 3rd. The Chairman of KVIC urged everyone to publicize the Khadi Fest and buy Khadi and village industry items to help the country's poor spinners, weavers, women, and artisans earn a living.

He congratulated Neihunuo Sorhie, a Khadi Weaver from Nagaland, on receiving the Padma Shri Award and the Sant Kabir Award, as well as Khadi veteran Shri V P Appukuttan Poduval from Kerala on receiving the Padma Shri Award. Khadi and Village Industries Institutions, PMEGP units from across the country affiliated with the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, are showcasing their products for display and sale at the Khadi Fest.

 

Aside from cotton khadi, khadi silk, pashmina, poly vastra, patola silk, kalamkari sarees, kanjivaram silk, light weight soft silk sarees, tussar silk, fulkari dress materials and other attractive apparels made of khadi fabrics, madhubani prints, dry fruits, tea, kahwa, beauty herbal and ayurvedic products, honey products.
