Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the second Mann Ki Baat of 2023 on February 26. The 98th episode of Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister's monthly radio show, will air today at 11 a.m.

Every month on the last Sunday, PM Modi interacts with the country through the programme. The debut episode aired on October 3, 2014.

The show will be broadcast over the whole network of All India Radio and Doordarshan, as well as on the AIR News website and the newsonair mobile app. It will also be carried live on the networks of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, AIR News, DD News, the PMO, and YouTube. Following the Hindi broadcast, the programme will be televised in regional languages by AIR.

The Goa government will launch a monthly programme named "Goa Ki Baat" to promote different programmes, similar to the PM's "Mann ki Baat," according to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. During each programme, which will air every third Saturday of the month, a state minister will speak about the plans of his or her department, he added.

Now, let's take a short look at what happened on the 97th edition of the radio show last month. PM Modi spoke on 'Electronic Waste,' saying that today's newest mobile and laptop gadgets are the future's 'e-waste,' and they should be properly discarded. PM Modi stated that 50 million tonnes of e-waste are delivered every year, citing a UN report. According to PM, every 800 computers are discarded. Yet, 17 different precious metals, including gold and silver, can be recovered from e-waste using various procedures, he explained. The prime minister also stated that if garbage is disposed of properly and carefully, it can become a powerful force in the Circular Economy of recycling and reusing.

PM Modi also noted that India has done a lot for wetlands. "You will be pleased to learn of India's efforts to protect its wetlands. Wetlands are critical to the survival of our planet since many birds and animals rely on them.”

The Prime Minister also emphasised the increased interest in millet and entrepreneurs capitalising on its potential in India. Millets took up a significant amount of PM Modi's Mann Ki Baat on Sunday. "People are embracing millets on a huge scale, just as they have made yoga and fitness a part of their lives through active participation. Millets are becoming more popular in people's diets. This change has also had a massive impact. On the one hand, the small farmers who traditionally used to grow millets are very enthusiastic.” According to the English translation of PM Modi's address issued by the Prime Minister's Office. He also made comparisons between millet and Yoga.

The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, supported a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution to declare 2023 the International Year of Millets, and India's proposal was endorsed by 72 countries. In March 2021, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2023 to be the International Year of Millets.

On January 1, 2023, the International Year of Millets 2023 officially started. PM Modi also mentioned a Self Help Group of over 1,500 women from Odisha's tribal area of Sundergarh, which is associated with the Odisha Millets Project.

"They make everything from millets to biscuits, rasgulla, gulab jamun, and even cakes here. Women's income is expanding as a result of their high market demand," the prime minister remarked, referring to them as "milletpreneurs".
