Aadhaar card latest update: New guidelines from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) allows people to update their Aadhar card addresses without using official documents.

With the approval of the head of the family (HOF), a person is now permitted to change their address on the "My Aadhar" portal.

The online address update option in Aadhar is intended to help the resident's relative(s) who lack supporting documentation in their own name, such as children, spouse, parents, etc.

Any resident who is at least 18 years old can be a HOF and give their address to family members.

Aadhaar update complete procedure:

A document proving the applicant's link to the family head and an OTP-based authentication by the HOF are the only requirements for obtaining this service. The document, which must include the names of both the applicant and the HOF, can be in the form of a passport, marriage certificate, ration card, or other official documents.

Residents have the option to submit a self-declaration by the HOF in the format required by UIDAI if a person is unable to produce the required documentation.

The new address update option is an addition to the one that is already done with any UIDAI-approved valid proof of address document.

Step-by-Step Process of completing Aadhaar

To update the address, log into the "My Aadhaar" site and select the new option as the first step. The HOF's Aadhaar number should then be entered and verified.

Posting the proof of relationship document and making the Rs 50 service fee payment are the following steps in the procedure. The HOF will receive a message informing them of the address change.

Within 30 days of getting the notification and after the HOF has approved the changes on the My Aadhar portal, the request will be completed.

The request will be terminated if the HOF declines to provide her or his address or if she or he does not accept or refuse within the allotted 30 days.

The resident who used this option to request an address update will receive an SMS notifying them that their request has been denied. The amount shall not be repaid to the applicant if the request is closed, or denied because the HOF was not accepted, or rejected during the process.
