PM Jan Dhan Yojana: Govt to Give Rs 10k to Account Holders! Know How to Check Balance & Other Details

To provide access to basic financial services, the ambitious PMJDY scheme was started in August 2014. A citizen of India who does not currently have any other accounts can open a basic savings bank deposit account under the scheme at any bank branch or Business Correspondent outlet.

Over 47 crore accounts have been opened through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), according to collected data.

Govt to Give Rs 10k to Account Holders:

The government is giving Rs. 10,000 to owners of Jan Dhan accounts. This account also has a number of other benefits.

What are the Benefits of the Jan Dhan Account:

There is no requirement for the account holder to keep a certain minimum balance in their account. An individual is given a Rupay debit card and has the option of applying to the bank for an overdraft (OD) of Rs 10,000 on this account.

The OD limit was first set at Rs 5,000 and afterward increased to Rs 10,000. There are no restrictions on the OD up to Rs 2,000. An individual can only acquire an OD of up to Rs 2,000 if their Jan Dhan account isn't at least six months old in order to use the OD feature.

The maximum age for OD has also been raised from 60 to 65 years old.

The account holders receive an accident insurance policy worth Rs. 1 lakh. There is also an Rs. 30,000 life insurance policy available.

In the event of an accidental death, the account holder's family will receive Rs. 1 lakh in insurance coverage. On the other hand, if death occurs under normal circumstances, a cover sum of Rs 30,000 is offered.

The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), and Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Bank (MUDRA) schemes are all available to PM Jan Dhan Yojana accounts.

Who is Eligible to Open a PMJDY Account and What Documents are Required?

Both an Aadhar card and a PAN card are required. Other proof of eligibility includes a driver's license, voter identification, passport, and an NREGA job card that has been authorized by a Gazetted Officer. Anyone can obtain the application form from any bank's official website.

In a bank branch, minors over the age of 10 can open a savings account. On the PMJDY official website, the account opening form for the scheme is presented in both English and Hindi versions.

How to Check PMJDY Account Balance?

There are two ways to check your PMJDY account balance. You can either check the balance through missed calls or through the PFMS website.

Through PFMS Website:

Visit the official website to check the PFMS portal balance. Next, select "Know Your Payment." You should now type in your account number. You then need to enter the provided captcha code. The screen in front of you will now show the balance of your account.

Through Missed Call:

You can check your account balance by making a missed call if you have a Jan Dhan account with the State Bank of India. You can do this by leaving a missed call at 18004253800 or 1800112211 from your registered mobile number.
