Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy continued his commitment to the welfare of farmers by disbursing Rs 5,500 of financial assistance to 52.3 lakh eligible farmers under the YSR Rythu Bharosa-PM Kisan scheme. This marks the fifth consecutive year of the scheme's implementation which took place at Pattikonda in the Kurnool district.

While the state government has contributed its share of Rs 5,500, the due contribution of Rs 2,000 from the Central Government is yet to be received. Once received, the total disbursal to these farmers will increase to Rs 7,500.

Addressing the farmers via a video link shared by the state government, Chief Minister Reddy emphasized his government's belief that the state can prosper only when the farmers are happy. He assured the farmers that his administration has fulfilled all the promises made in the manifesto.

Furthermore, Reddy expressed concern for farmers facing difficulties in accessing credit for cultivating crops. He urged them not to struggle and assured them of his government's support.

Under the YSR Rythu Bharosa-PM Kisan scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government provides financial assistance of Rs 13,500 to all landless SC, ST, BC, and minority tenant farmers, including those cultivating endowment lands. This assistance is provided in three installments or tranches.

Over the past four years, the state has disbursed a total of Rs 30,985 crore under this scheme. Reddy highlighted that although the election manifesto promised Rs 12,500 assistance for four years, the government has now increased it to Rs 13,500 for five years. This decision has resulted in an additional Rs 17,500 in funds being provided to the farmers.
