India has a leading role in the worldwide trade in farm goods. Its overall agricultural export destinations, however, were the USA, Iran, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh.
Marine goods, basmati rice, buffalo meat, spices, non-basmati rice, raw cotton, oil meals, sugar, castor oil, and tea were among the main agricultural commodities exported from India.
According to the report, an analysis of the share of the top ten agricultural commodities in the total value of agricultural exports over the last six years reveals that the share of marine products in the total value of agricultural exports remained the highest over the period. 'The share of overall agricultural export value rose from 14.5% in 2015-16 to approximately 19% in 2019-20,' it added.
There was also a growing trend in the share of basmati rice, non-basmati rice, spices and sugar in the overall value of agricultural exports during the time.
However, the overall agricultural export value of buffalo meat and raw cotton dropped during the time. Over this time, the shares of commodities such as castor oil and tea have remained steady, the survey said.
