Sericulture Farming: Five-day Training Program Held to Encourage Farmers to Adopt Modern Technologies

At Sericulture Farm, Ghordi, Udhampur, the Regional Sericulture Research Centre of the Central Silk Board of Jammu conducted a five-day Farmer Skill Training Programme under the Capacity Building and Training program. 

The major goal of the program is to make sericulture farmers aware of the most modern techniques offered in the field, the implementation of which will assist enhance their revenue.  About 25 sericulture farmers, primarily women, from several panchayats in the Ghordi block received training. 

Trainees Experience with Skill Training 

Trainees liked the training and believed it will help them become more self-sufficient. 

"My parents practiced sericulture, and I picked up some tips from them as I saw them." This is my first day of training, and it will enable me to stand on my own two feet and not rely on others," Sawarna, a trainee, told ANI. 

Another trainee, Meena, complimented the Modi government, adding that it was because of them that she was able to participate in sericulture training and learn something new. 

"Such programs did not exist previously; they are just taking place now." "We will learn from this program," said another trainee named Rubey. 

The goal of the program, according to Dr. Chatra Pal of the Central Silk Board, is to bring new technology to farmers to increase their revenue. 

"The training program's job is to educate farmers on the most up-to-date techniques to increase their income. The Department of State Sericulture is assisting us. Farmers are encouraged to use new technology. This training will last for five days, said Pal to ANI 

Pal further stated that the trainees will be provided with food as well as a daily stipend of Rs 150.

Government schemes on sericulture, as well as lots of practical and academic information about the sector, would be shared with the participants, according to Arti Sharma, Chairman of Block Development Council, Ghordi. 

"Our Prime Minister has a dream of achieving 'Aatamnirbhar Bharat,' which can only be fulfilled if we can stand on our own two feet." "The program would provide a lot of benefits to the participants," she continued. 

On behalf of the Sericulture Department, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Senior Technical Assistant, and Vinod Sharma, Circle Incharge, Ghordi, were also there to provide training for the Central Silk Board.
