Agitating Farmers Do Not Seek to Change Power at the Center, But to Solve their Problems: Tikait

On Wednesday, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait reported that the agitating farmers were not aiming at any shift of control at the core, but a solution to their problems, as he said many of their leaders would visit various parts of the country to spread the agitation.

Tikait said, addressing the protesting farmers at the Singhu border that, ‘the agitation against farm laws will extend until their problems are resolved by the Centre. We may not aim for a transition of control (at the Centre). The government needs to do its job.’

He said that, ‘we want it to abolish the farm laws and ensure MSP rule.’

Tikait said the movement would be long drawn and continue before the government began talks with leaders of farmers. He also said that the solidarity of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella group of farmers unions protesting against the notorious farm laws, was intact and warned the government not to be in any delusion.

With the holding of major meetings across the country and associating 40 lakh tractors with it, the agitation will broaden, he said, adding that farmers' leaders will visit various states to spread the movement.
