KVKs Working Towards Doubling the Farmers` Income

Identifying the major problems and prioritizing them for creating alternative solutions. Each subject matter specialist of the KVK should be master for the farmers. Each KVK should work on doubling farmers’ income through promoting different IFS models, successful cases of income-generating enterprises, organizing farmers and linking them with the market. Reducing the cost of cultivation by using organic manures, vermicompost, in-situ composting and vermin-wash, etc. was emphasized. Annual Action Plan Workshop of 16 KVKs (western region) working under area jurisdiction of MPKV Rahuri was organized during 20-21 March 2018, which was inaugurated by Dr K.P. Vishwanatha, Vice-Chancellor, MPKV, Rahuri on 20th March 2018. He said that KVK should showcase the technologies. Model KVK should be visited. 

Dr Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune emphasised KVK should give major focus on on-farm experimentation, understanding farmers viewpoint, sensitive to farming system interaction and treating farmer as a partner. He stated that all KVKs should undertake the agroecosystem analysis in their respective jurisdiction and suitable latest farm technologies should be incorporated under the demonstrations.

Dr. K.D. Kokate, Director Extension Education (MPKV, Rahuri) highlighted different models of doubling farmers’ income for different categories of farmers.

On 22nd March 2018, Action Plan Workshop of 11 KVKs of Marathwada region was organized at Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani. In the inaugural address, Dr B. Venkateswarlu KVKs are the hub of agricultural knowledge at the district level. Effective and efficient implementation of the schematic plan of Krishi Vigyan Kendra is very important. Various new varieties of crops and agriculture technologies developed by the university should be incorporated in frontline demonstrations. Precautionary measures should be taken to avoid severe infestation of pink bollworms on cotton crop in the Marathwada region.

Dr P. G. Ingole, Director Extension Education (VNMKV, Parbhani) made thrust on strengthening linkage and convergence of developmental schemes for benefitting the farmers. Heads of departments and other professors were invited to give technological backstopping.
