SBI General Insurance, one of India's leading General Insurance companies, announces its active participation in the nationwide “Doorstep Policy Distribution Drive - Meri Policy Mere Haath” (MPMH) Policy Distribution” campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2024 season. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, aims to deliver crop insurance policies directly into the hands of farmers, ensuring they are well-informed about their crop coverage under the scheme.

The aim of the “Meri Policy Mere Haath” campaign initiative is a proactive step towards empowering farmers by enhancing transparency and accessibility of crop insurance policies. Through this campaign, every insured farmer receives a physical copy of their policy, ensuring they are well-informed about the scheme's coverage, benefits, and the steps involved in filing claims. This initiative aims to bridge the information gap by educating farmers about the claims process, policy details, and the financial protection they receive against crop losses due to natural calamities. By directly engaging with farmers at the village level, the campaign seeks to empower them with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their agricultural risks and the safety nets available to them.

As part of this campaign, SBI General will organize Fasal Bima Pathshala (Farmer Workshops) and Women Farmer Workshops in Orissa, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand, along with door-to-door awareness drives and distribution of collaterals in regional languages to educate farmers on scheme benefits, policy details, and the claims process. Furthermore, special events like Kisan Melas and Kisan Goshthis will be organized to enhance engagement, with SBI General collaborating with local authorities and State Governments to ensure effective policy distribution at the Gram Panchayat level.

Commenting on the initiative, Naveen Chandra Jha, MD & CEO, SBI General Insurance, said, “We believe that true empowerment begins with awareness. Through the ‘Meri Policy Mere Haath’ initiative, we are not just distributing policies but also delivering peace of mind to farmers by helping them understand their insurance benefits in the event against natural calamities. This initiative is a commendable effort by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India to bring insurance closer to the farmers, and we are proud to be a part of it. By directly engaging with the farmer community, we are raising awareness about the importance of comprehensive risk protection solutions under the PMFBY scheme.”
