The national capital has been experiencing a brutal heatwave, shattering weather records. From May 1 to June 10, the city endured a scorching 32 days with temperatures exceeding 40°C. This marks the highest number of such days in the past 14 years.  Furthermore, Delhi witnessed an uninterrupted stretch of temperatures above 40°C for a staggering 28 days, another record for the past 14 years.

While the Meteorological Department predicts some relief with light to moderate rains due to pre-monsoon activity in the coming days, there is no respite from the heat for now.

Central Gujarat continues to grapple with high temperatures despite forecasts of rain. Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar might see a slight dip in temperature due to cloudy skies, but residents can expect more hot days ahead. However, there is hope for South Gujarat and Saurashtra regions.

Today, these areas are expected to receive scattered light rain in Saurashtra, while South Gujarat can expect light to moderate rain with thunderstorms. High wind speeds are also offering some temporary relief from the scorching heat.

Mumbai received a pleasant surprise with the arrival of the southwest monsoon two days ahead of schedule. The city witnessed heavy rains on June 9, leading to water-logging in some areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rain. Residents can expect generally cloudy skies with heavy rains in the next few days.
