Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall to Lash East UP, Bengal, and Bihar, Warns IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for continued heavy to very heavy rainfall across several regions of the country, with isolated areas expecting extremely heavy downpours. This is expected to impact East Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar. Additionally, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra are also forecasted to receive significant rainfall.

In East and Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, along with Bihar, will see heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 28. Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to experience similar conditions between October 2 and 4, while Assam and Meghalaya may receive heavy showers on October 2 and 3. Isolated heavy rainfall is also anticipated in Arunachal Pradesh on September 28 and October 1, and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on September 30 and October 1.

For central India, light to moderate rainfall is likely to persist over the region on September 27, with isolated heavy rainfall expected over East Madhya Pradesh on September 28.

In West India, widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat during the next two days, with a shift to isolated showers for the following five days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Gujarat on September 28, while Madhya Maharashtra and North Konkan & Goa may see isolated heavy rainfall on the same day. Dry conditions are likely to prevail in Saurashtra & Kutch from October 2 onward.

The Northwest region, including East Uttar Pradesh, will experience widespread rainfall on September 27, followed by scattered showers over the next few days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecasted for East Uttar Pradesh on September 27, while Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan may witness isolated heavy rainfall. 

Meanwhile, in South India, fairly widespread rainfall is predicted across Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Tamil Nadu, with isolated heavy rains in Tamil Nadu from September 28 to 30. Heavy rainfall is also expected over South Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema on September 28, and over Coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep during the following days.

These weather conditions may pose challenges, especially in flood-prone areas. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to safety precautions.
