The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an updated weather forecast for the upcoming days, detailing heavy rainfall, fog, and temperature fluctuations across different regions of India. The report highlights isolated heavy rainfall expected over certain southern states, dense fog in northwest India, and gradual changes in temperatures. Below is a detailed overview with key weather systems, forecast warnings, and specific weather predictions for Delhi and the NCR region.

Weather Systems at Play

  • Cyclonic Circulation: A cyclonic circulation persists over South Tamil Nadu and nearby areas at lower tropospheric levels, contributing to the rainfall activity in southern states.

  • Western Disturbance: A Western Disturbance, identified as a cyclonic circulation, is present over North Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan, with an upper trough extending along Long. 65°E and north of Lat. 30°N, impacting Northwest India's weather.

  • Jet Stream Winds: High-speed jet streams reaching up to 120 knots are observed over Northwest India at approximately 12.6 km above sea level, which may influence fog and wind conditions.
