Weather Update: IMD Forecasts Heavy Rainfall Across Meghalaya, Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka

Heavy rainfall is forecasted across various regions of India, with isolated extreme downpours in Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam. Fishermen are advised to avoid the Bay of Bengal due to stormy weather conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall across several regions of India, with isolated instances of extremely heavy downpours. Meghalaya is expected to witness isolated areas receiving extremely heavy rainfall on October 4. Similarly, parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim will also experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on the same day. The forecast also includes heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, and Marathwada.

Weather Update in Assam, Northeast and West Bengal

In East and Northeast India, the week will be characterized by widespread light to moderate rainfall, especially in the Northeast region. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands, West Bengal, and Sikkim will also experience fairly widespread rainfall for the next two days, followed by scattered rainfall in the subsequent five days.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh on October 4, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will likely see heavy rainfall on October 4 and 5.

Weather Update in South India including Kerala, Karnataka

In the southern regions, widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected across Kerala, Lakshadweep, South Interior Karnataka, and other areas. Rayalaseema is set to experience isolated heavy rainfall on October 4 and 5, while South Interior Karnataka will likely see similar conditions from October 4 to 8. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala are also expected to witness heavy rainfall until October 9.

Meanwhile, the IMD predicts no significant rainfall over Northwest, West, and Central India during the upcoming week.

Fishermen in the Gulf of Mannar and the east-central Bay of Bengal are advised to avoid venturing into the seas due to gusty weather conditions, with wind speeds reaching up to 55 kmph.
