Percolation

The term "percolation" is derived from the Latin word percolare, which means "to strain through." Percolation occurs when a liquid is strained through a filter, such as when making coffee. Coffee may make you feel energetic! Perky is derived from the term percolate, which describes anything that bubbles over. Percolation (a noun) is the process through which something percolates. When talking about agriculture, the term percolation means the gravitational (downward) movement of water containing dissolved minerals through soil pores.
