As per research, coriander is a source of dietary fiber, manganese, iron, and magnesium. Even its leaves are enriched with Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and protein which many people are not aware of. It also comes with small amounts of calcium, phosphorus, potassium, thiamin, niacin, and carotene. Isn’t it amazing?

1. Help lower blood sugar

High blood sugar leads to diabetes and ultimately leads to so many diseases. But the good news is, that coriander seeds, extract, and oils may all help lower blood sugar as per the study. Moreover, it helps you to lower your blood sugar level. On the other hand, people who have low blood sugar and taking diabetes medication, need to maintain a distance from coriander because it’s effective in lowering blood sugar.  Animal studies suggest that coriander seeds reduce blood sugar by promoting enzyme activity that helps remove sugar from the blood.  

As per a study, it is found that the same dosage of coriander seed extract lowered blood sugar and increased insulin release in rats with diabetes, compared with control animals. 

2. A Good Source to Boost Immunity with Anti-oxidants

It’s a good source of antioxidants and prevents cellular damage caused by free radicals. Antioxidants reduce and fight against the inflammation in your body.  As per the study, the antioxidants in coriander seed extract lowered inflammation and slowed the growth of lung, prostate, breast, and colon cancer cells.  

3. Good for Your heart health

Coriander extract acts as a diuretic, helping your body flush excess sodium and water which may lower your blood pressure.

As per one rat study, it is found that coriander extract protected against nerve-cell damage following drug-induced seizures, likely due to its antioxidant properties. But still, it is yet to experiment with humans. 

5. Promotes Digestion and Gut Health

It is proven that oil extracts from coriander lead to healthy digestion. As per the study, 30 drops of a coriander-containing herbal medication taken thrice daily can decrease abdominal pain, bloating, and discomfort, compared with a placebo group.   

6. Fight with Infections

Coriander comes with antimicrobial compounds which may help fight certain infections and bacteria.
