Agriculture sector contributes around 16-17 % GDP in the country. The per capita income of the people working in the agriculture and rural sector are very less compared to other areas in the country.

The National Skill Development sector has opened around 217 training centres for the agriculture and rural sector.  Around 100 mobile centres or mobile vans have been initiated for the 6 lakh population in the villages where training centres can’t reach directly.

Various training courses, around 115 job role courses for the specialized fields in cultivation like for wheat, paddy, soyabean etc have been opened along with courses in the allied sectors and dairy development, forest department and sericulture.

For developing skills in the handicraft and carpet industry, training courses are also available for weavers and artisans.
