Division of Plant Pathology is inviting candidates for the post of Research Associate(RA), Senior Research Fellow(SRF), Young Professional II(YPII) under the externally funded ICAR project titled "Enhancing Climate Resilience and Ensuring Food Security with Genome Editing Tools" (Project Code 12-197-F positions) on contractual basis. Qualifications  and Experience

Research Associate(RA)

  • Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Plant Physiology, Plant Biochemistry, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Botany, or any relevant discipline of life sciences, along with desirable experience, are eligible. 

  • Alternatively, candidates with a Master's degree in the mentioned fields, with at least three years of research experience and one research paper in a Science Citation Index (SCI)/NAAS rated (≥4.0) Journal, are also eligible. 

  • Experience in basic molecular techniques, molecular cloning, genetic transformation of crops, genome editing, plant tissue culture, and scientific writing is required.

Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

  • Master's degree in Biotechnology, Plant Physiology, Plant Biochemistry, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Botany, or any relevant life sciences discipline, along with desirable experience, are eligible. 

  • Those with a postgraduate degree in Basic Sciences and a 3-year Bachelor's degree, followed by a 2-year Master's degree, should have NET/GATE qualifications and 2 years of research experience as specified in the relevant official memoranda. 

  • Required skills include expertise in basic molecular techniques, molecular cloning, genetic transformation of crops, and related areas.

Young Professional II (YPII)

  • Postgraduate degrees in Biotechnology, Plant Physiology, Plant Biochemistry, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Botany, or related life sciences disciplines, or those with relevant graduate degrees in Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, or Technology are eligible. 

  • Required skills include experience in basic molecular techniques, molecular cloning, genetic transformation of crops, development and analysis of transgenic plants, genome editing, plant tissue culture, and scientific writing, as demonstrated by publications.

Age Limit

  • Research Associate(RA): The maximum age limit for male applicants should be 40 years, while   for female applicants, it should be 45 years.

  • Senior Research Fellow(SRF): The maximum age limit for male applicants should be 35 years, while for female applicants, it should be 40 years.

  • Young Professional-II(YPII): The maximum age limit for male applicants should be 21 years, while for female applicants, it should be 45 years.

Monthly Remuneration

  • Research Associate(RA): Rs. 49,000+HRA per month (for MSc. degree holders), 

                                             Rs. 54,000+HRA (for PhD degree holder)

  • Senior Research Fellow(SRF): Rs. 31,000+HRA(Year 1 & 2)

                                                      Rs. 35,000+HRA(Year 3)

  • Young Professional-II(YPII): Rs. 42,000

Selection Procedure

  • Candidates will be shortlisted based on the eligibility criteria, educational performance, and/or relevant research experience, if applicable. 

  • Only shortlisted candidates will be notified of the screening results via email and invited to attend an online/in-person interview in Delhi. 

  • Candidates are advised to check their email regularly for updates. 

  • The final interview results will be published on the IARI website (https://iari.res.in) under the "News" section, specifically under "Contractual Jobs" and "View Results" subsections.

  • Interested and eligible candidates are suggested to apply using the Application Proforma to be downloaded from IARI website mentioned below, along with the necessary enclosures as specified in the proforma. 

  • The signed Application Proforma and scanned enclosures should be merged into a single PDF document of appropriate size and emailed to trainings.iari@gmail.com.

  • The deadline for submission is 21 days from the publication in the Employment News or 12th May 2024, whichever is later. In case of insufficient space, the Application Proforma may be typed neatly, or additional information can be provided in Annexures, duly signed.
