SRF & Project Associate-II at ICAR-IARI

Division of Genetics at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, is inviting applications for the positions of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and Project Associate-II. These roles are part of externally funded projects and are available on a contractual basis until March 31, 2025. The interviews for these positions will be conducted online.

Position Details

1. Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in ICAR Funded Project

  • Project Title: Molecular approaches for mapping of novel gene(s)/ QTL(s) for resistance/tolerance to different stresses in Rice, Wheat, Chickpea, and Indian mustard, including sheath blight complex genomics and resistance mechanisms - Chickpea Component.

  • Number of Posts: One

  • Emoluments: Rs. 35,000 per month + 24% HRA (with two years of research experience) as per ICAR memorandum

  • Essential Qualifications:

    • Degree in Genetics/Plant Breeding/Genetics and Plant Breeding/Seed Science/Biotechnology with a 4-year bachelor's degree and a 2-year M.Sc. or M.Tech (4+2 system).

    • Candidates with a 3-year bachelor's degree must have a valid UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET qualification or equivalent or a Ph.D. in any of the above disciplines.

    • Two years of research experience in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations, as evidenced by a certificate from the employer.

2. SRF/Project Associate-II in DBT Funded Project

  • Project Title: Characterization of chickpea germplasm resource to accelerate genomics-assisted crop improvement.

  • Number of Posts: One

  • Emoluments: Rs. 42,000 per month + 24% HRA for SRF; Rs. 28,000 + 24% HRA for Project Associate-II.

  • Essential Qualifications:

    • Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests for Senior Research Fellow as mentioned in the DST office memorandum No. DST/PCPM/2 06/2022 dated 26 June 2023.

    • Non-NET qualified candidates for Project Associate-II as mentioned in the DST office memorandum No. SR/SS/Z-05/2019, dated 10th July 2020.

    • Graduate and Master's degree in Agriculture (4+2 years) with specialization in Plant Breeding and Genetics/Seed Science and Technology/Biotechnology.

    • Two years of research experience in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations, as evidenced by a certificate from the employer.

  • Desirable Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of plant breeding trials, handling field crops, crossing techniques, and statistical analysis software like R.

    • Willingness to participate in off-season crossing and trial data capture across India.

Age Limit 

Age Limit: Maximum 35 years for SRF and Project Associate-II, with age relaxation of five years for SC/ST & women and three years for OBC.

The positions are temporary and initially available until March 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension based on performance or project duration.

The online interview details will be communicated to shortlisted candidates via email. Candidates must adhere to the reporting time for the online interview. The application form, along with all required scanned documents (from matriculation onwards, date of birth certificate, NET/equivalent certificate, degree certificates, and a recent photograph), must be sent via email as a single PDF file.
