Rajasthan Govt Plans to Convert 1.20 Lakh Hectares of Agri Land into Organic Farming Zone

The Rajasthan government has announced plans to convert approximately 1.20 lakh hectares (1.2 million hectares) of agricultural land into organic farming areas as part of its ongoing efforts to promote sustainable farming practices.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has given his approval for this ambitious project, which aims to support farmers by providing them with organic seeds, bio-fertilizers, and pesticides. In an official statement released on Saturday, the state government emphasized its commitment to encouraging organic farming and outlined the key aspects of the initiative.

Farmers who participate in the program will receive the necessary resources to transition their land to organic farming, promoting a more environmentally friendly and healthier approach to agriculture.

The conversion of 1.20 lakh hectares to organic farming areas is expected to bring significant benefits to farmers in the state. The project, estimated to cost around Rs 23.57 crore, will enable farmers to cultivate their land using organic methods, avoiding the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides that can have detrimental effects on the environment and human health.

To further support organic farmers, the government has also pledged to provide financial assistance. Under the initiative, 50,000 organic farmers will receive Rs 5,000 each, offering a much-needed boost to their farming operations. This support aims to incentivize more farmers to adopt organic farming practices and reap the associated benefits.

Recognizing the need for comprehensive planning and implementation, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved an allocation of Rs 5 crore from the state fund. These funds will be used for various activities related to the organic farming project, including farmer selection, the formation of farmers' groups, and training sessions for master trainers.

By investing in these activities, the government hopes to create a strong foundation for the success of the organic farming initiative.
