The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather updates predicting heavy rainfall across multiple regions of India, with a focus on the southern and northeastern states. According to the latest report, isolated locations in Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal have already experienced intense rainfall, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming days.

The Southwest Monsoon is gradually withdrawing, with the current line of withdrawal stretching through various regions, including Nautanwa, Sultanpur, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. Conditions are favorable for further withdrawal of the monsoon from remaining parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and parts of Maharashtra over the next 2–3 days.

A cyclonic circulation located over the southwest and westcentral Bay of Bengal, near the North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coasts, is contributing to the heavy rains. This system is expected to influence the weather across the region, bringing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the next week.

South Peninsular India to Witness Heavy Rainfall

Widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Kerala, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu throughout the week. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Kerala and Mahe from October 6th to 12th, and similar conditions will be observed in North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on October 6th, extending to Tamil Nadu from October 7th to 11th.

Rainfall is also predicted in South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and Coastal Karnataka on October 6th, while Lakshadweep will experience heavy showers from October 8th to 12th.

Rainfall in Northeast India

Northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya will also experience fairly widespread rainfall, with heavy downpours expected over the next 5–6 days. States like Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may also see isolated heavy rainfall from October 6th to 7th.

Meanwhile, no significant rainfall is forecasted for Northwest, West, and Central India over the next week.
