The Union Agriculture Ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft to run a pilot program for 100 villages in six states to lower the production cost and increase farmers' revenue. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar was present at the signing ceremony, an official mentioned.
The minister mentioned that it would make agriculture trendy and help make the agriculture sector worthwhile and attract youth to farming.
Tomar highlighted that the Centre is transferring Rs 6,000 per year to farmers under the PM-KISAN in a clear method.
He also mentioned that the agriculture sector has carried out properly and made an optimistic contribution throughout this COVID-19 pandemic.
Microsoft has come forward to begin a pilot project in selected hundred villages in ten districts of six states (Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, and Rajasthan) to develop farmer interface for smart & well-organized agriculture that includes post-harvest management & distribution. For this project, Microsoft has collaborated with its local partner, Crop Data.
Beneath the pilot venture, which can run for a year, will probably carry out many actions to spice up farmers' revenue through the discount in entering a value and higher post-harvest administration, the assertion mentioned.
The Centre aims to increase the income of farmers by removing the bottleneck of conflicting information. Many new initiatives have been introduced to achieve this goal. A major initiative, in this regard, is creation of Agri-Funds based on the National Farmers Database.
