Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday distributed agriculture machinery and equipment to farmers, as well as financial assistance of $10,000 for handicraft tool kits to 1,500 artisans, as part of the North East Area Textile Promotion Scheme.
'I am extremely pleased to administer financial assistance for handicrafts tool kits under the North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme to 1500 artisans through DBT, as well as Agriculture Machineries and Equipment under the Sub-Mission of Agriculture Mechanization (SMAM) Scheme to farmers from various districts.' the Chief Minister sent out a tweet.
The distribution role was jointly coordinated by the Manipur government's Department of Agriculture and Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, according to an official statement. Chief Minister Singh, speaking at the case, said that agriculture is a vital sector that has made a major contribution to the country's economy.
As a result, the state government has taken steps to preserve agricultural property, coordinating efforts through different government agencies. He reported that the financial assistance provided to handicraft artisans would be raised to Rs. 20,000 from next year, citing tool kits as a priority for producing any product.
He also mentioned a local product exhibition called "Mai-own 2021," which will take place at Hapta Kangjeibung from March 16 to 22. He also emphasised the importance of reviving the state's old foods and history. 'The state has been moving toward growth in various fields as a result of the efforts and encouragement of the people,' he said.
