Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, stated on Monday that he will cancel electricity bills worth Rs 6,400 crore, providing relief to 88 lakh users who have been affected by the Covid pandemic. The unpaid bills were from the Covid-19 pandemic period.

During the Corona period, the administration postponed the collection of electrical bills. The remaining funds were scheduled to be deposited in six installments.

For that reason, 48 lakh consumers used the Samadhan Yojana (settlement scheme). However, in light of the people's difficulties, 88 lakh home consumers would have their electricity bills canceled worth Rs 6,400 crore.

During a comprehensive remark during the debate on the Governor's Address, Chouhan said, "Electricity bills would not be recovered from them."

He went on to say that the 48 lakh customers who had put in roughly Rs 189 crore under the Yojana should not feel dejected because the amount previously paid would be corrected in future bills.

Chouhan declared that his government will pay the interest on farmers' outstanding debts up to Rs 2 lakh to banks if they default on their loans.

Chouhan also announced a Rs 2 crore increase in the MLA Local Area Development Fund to Rs 3 crore.

"They (MLAs) can spend Rs 50 lakh from the fund as a voluntary fund, allowing them to help the poor directly."

He also announced that the Mukyamantri Kanyadan Yojana (a marriage support scheme for underprivileged girls from all communities) would be restarted and that the present Ladli Laxmi Yojana will be redesigned before being relaunched as Ladli Laxmi Yojana 2.0.

Chouhan also assured that 23 lakh houses had already been completed under the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme and that another 30 lakh would be created by the end of the year.
