Bihar Agriculture University is working towards Krishi Kranti via its Different Initiatives

The Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), located in Sabour, Bhagalpur district, was founded on August 5, 2010, as a strategic institution for providing graduate and post-graduate education, as well as conducting research and ensuring effective technology transfer and capacity building for farmers and extension personnel.

Bihar Agricultural College (Sabour), Bhola Paswan Shastri Agricultural College (Purnia), Mandan Bharti Agriculture College (Saharsa), Nalanda College of Horticulture (Nalanda), Dr. Kalam Agricultural College (Kishanganj), VKS College of Agriculture (Dumraon), and Agriculture Business Management College (Patna) are among the university's seven colleges.

From 2015 to 16, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has accredited the university's and colleges' degree programs.

In terms of teaching, research, extension, and training, the university are also ISO 9000:2008 certified.

According to the deputy director of training, "At BAU, we don't just provide high-quality education and research; we also take a comprehensive approach to the growth of the farming community through numerous training and information dissemination programs, which distinguishes us as a one-of-a-kind institution."

"We have been spreading technologies to farmers in Bihar through BAU's Directorate of Extension Education (DEE) since 2010," says, BAU's director (education extension).

He adds that the directorate is working closely with farmers to improve yields, empower farm women, and foster agri-entrepreneurship among rural youth.

Video conferencing, social networking via YouTube (with over 2.57 lakh subscribers and over 2.5 million views), and other ICT tools (Facebook, WhatsApp, etc) help take tech breakthroughs to the farming community.

Its WhatsApp-based 'Crop doctor' is unusual in that it allows farmers and scientists to engage in real-time to solve problems connected to crop pests and disease control.

The BAU took a unique step in developing 36 technical films about success stories for farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and rural youth, which have been viewed by 40 million people. YouTube honored the university's Media Center for its subscriptions with a Silver Button.
