In a recent development, Crofarm forayed into business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) space and has launched the platform Otipy, India’s first social commerce model to connect consumers with farmers through resellers. India’s fastest growing farm to fork agritech start-up, Crofarm has raised Pre-Series A funding of $1 million led by Smile Group.

Commenting on the same, Varun Khurana Co-Founder & CEO Crofram said, “We are a technology-enabled gateway for business women, end consumers, and farmers providing them access to fresh produce.Crofarm uses its robust demand-driven supply chain network to bring the best of the farm products that are 100% chemical-free to the consumers." He further added that Crofarm is targeting the large market with a broken supply chain but a scalable demand led-model. We aim to bring fundamental change in the lives of our partner resellers (generally women), consumers and farmers at large.

Crofarm with its recently launched platform Otipy, aims to build a scalable demand-led end-to-end supply chain for fresh produce operating at 35% gross margin – a first of its kind in India – mainly to help business women to sell fresh produce to their community and earn INR 20,000 – INR 60,000 per month in the process. To achieve this, the agritech start-up works closely with 500+ partner resellers (mainly women) across Delhi-NCR and is already serving over 50,000 consumers. Further, it aims to expand its existing portfolio and gain a large share in the NCR region.

The platform offers an extensive product catalogue of fresh, hygienic and chemical-free on demand fruits & vegetables from the farm, which is usually 30% cheaper than the market. The company also facilitates on-demand harvesting as per predicted demand and ensures that the produce reaches the same day to the distribution centres. It leverages AI-based demand prediction by taking into account the historical data to procure the produce and uses customer relationship management tools built on Whatsapp to efficiently manage consumers-platform interactions. The platform also makes sure that farmers have complete transparency of point of sale (POS) and payments.
