District Level Assessment of Vulnerability and Risk of Agriculture to Climate Change and Variability
The ICAR-Natural Resource Management Division and ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized the Second Stakeholder Consultation Meeting on “Vulnerability and Risk of Agriculture to Climate Change and Variability - A District Level Assessment” at the National Agricultural Science Centre Complex, New Delhi.
The ICAR-Natural Resource Management Division and ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized the Second Stakeholder Consultation Meeting on “Vulnerability and Risk of Agriculture to Climate Change and Variability - A District Level Assessment” at the National Agricultural Science Centre Complex, New Delhi.
Referring to the recent natural calamities in the country, Dr. K. Alagusundaram, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management & Agricultural Engineering), ICAR urged to emphasize on the socio-economic aspects of the different stakeholders.
Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) appreciated the work on vulnerability and highlighted the importance of the study in policy making.
Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Crop Science & Horticultural Science) opined for considering the cropping system perspective and extreme weather events.
Dr. S. Bhaskar, ADG (AAF&CC), highlighted the need for vulnerability document and its utility with the different stakeholders.
Dr. S.K. Chaudhari, ADG (Soil & Water Conservation), ICAR highlighted the agro ecosystem vulnerability on the agricultural production.
Earlier, Dr. G. Ravindra Chary, Director elaborated on the genesis of the study and the efforts made in bringing the changes to the revised document.
The Senior Officials of ICAR and Ministries participated in the meeting.
