Vertical farming

Vertical Farming can be a great deal for the farmers. This farming technique is mostly used for vine vegetables with bamboo wire.

It must be noted that the Haryana government is promoting vertical farming and also giving information about the benefits of this farming to the farmers. Not only this, the Horticulture department is giving grants for this farming under a special scheme.

As per the statement of an official spokesperson, a provision has been made to provide grants under the special scheme by the government for the farmers adopting this method.

He said that this method costs around Rs. 1 lakh 42 thousand per acre, and in this, the horticulture department gives a grant of 70 thousand 500 rupees per acre.

The official also mentioned about the Rohtak district of Haryana, where farmers are producing vine vegetables using vertical farming on the bamboo-wire method in around 250 hectares of area.

Vine vegetables like gourd, cucumber, melon, tomato, zucchini, etc. can be grown using the vertical farming method.

By adopting the vertical farming method,

  • Water can be saved

  • Farmers can earn more profits

  • Space can be used optimally

  • More organic crops can be grown

  • Crops can be grown year-round

The official said that vine vegetables are usually planted directly in the field, which reduces their production after a certain period of time, along with many pests and diseases. And in turn, production cost also increases.

He appealed to the farmers that in the upcoming Kharif season, instead of paddy, they should contribute towards saving water by opting for vertical farming instead of sowing paddy.

By adopting vertical farming method, farmers can earn more profits.
