Farmers Protest Latest Updates: Delhi CM to observe one day fast in support of farmers today

As per latest reports, Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi would be on one-day fast on Monday (14 December 2020) in the support of the farmers protest. 

Farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni announced that heads of all FFUs who have been protesting against the latest agri laws of the center for two week will now see a one-day hunger strike. The hunger strike on Monday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. is a part of the farmer's plan to maximize their unrest from 14 December. 

Chaduni said the leaders would conduct the hunger strike in their respective environments, at a press conference at the border with Singhu, where farmers camped in agitation. He also stated that all district offices around the country Dharnas will be held along with the normal protest. 

Ministers, Narendra Singh Tomar and Som Parkash met with Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday, in between the protests of farmers against the three Agricultural Laws of the Centre, according to PTI news agency. BJP leaders from Punjab joined the ministers too. Tomar and Parkash had led the government talks with the protesting farmers along with their Ministerial counterpart Piyush Goyal. 

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal said that he will be holding a day of fast as a support for the farmers protest on Monday. He called on all workers and followers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to demonstrate their unity to the farmers for one day quickly. The Center should urgently recognize all the demands of farmers who have been protesting on the Delhi border for the past two weeks, he said in his virtual media briefing. He also called on the BJP-ruled center to stop greed and to scrap three agricultural laws as sought by agitating farmers, and to enact a Bill to guarantee minimum agricultural products support prices (MSP). 

On Sunday, the Delhi police stepped up their vigil at the Haryana National Capital as the farmers decided to block the Jaipur National Highway-8 passageways from Gurgaon in protest of the latest farm legislation, the PTI news agency said. On Saturday, the City Police had made extensive precautions by deploying additional staff and putting more realistic hurdles after farmers' organizations announced the march of Delhi Chalo from Rajasthan and Haryana neighboring states.
