GADVASU Organizes Training on 'Molecular Modeling and Recombinant Protein Expression'
Dr. Malik also briefed about the college and various research activities being undertaken by the college and indicated that more exhaustive capacity-building training programs will be organized in the days to come.
The College of Animal Biotechnology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) organized a five days’ hands on training on “Molecular Modeling and Recombinant Protein Expression” for the researchers and post graduate students.
Dr. Yashpal Singh Malik, Dean, College of Animal Biotechnology, and the Course Director of the training elaborated on the training’s aim to strengthen human resources in the field of Genetic engineering, Molecular diagnostics and Bioinformatics.
Dr. Malik also briefed about the college and various research activities being undertaken by the college and indicated that more exhaustive capacity-building training programs will be organized in the days to come.
During the training, the Coordinators, Dr. B.V. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Satparkash Singh and Dr. Nisha Singh delivered their expert lectures and arranged practical sessions on recombinant DNA technology, serological assays and Molecular modeling, respectively. Trainees from different colleges participated in the training.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University, congratulated the organizing team for the hands-on training. The training program concluded with feedback from the trainees, certificate distribution and the concluding remarks from the course director of the programme.
What is Recombinant Protein Expression?
Recombinant Protein is a protein encoded by a gene- recombinant DNA- that has been cloned in a system that allows for gene expression and messenger RNA translation (see expression system). The use of recombinant DNA technology to modify the gene can result in the expression of a mutant protein.
