As per the official statement, farmers in Chhattisgarh will get an input subsidy of Rs. 10,000 per acre to cultivate some crops identified by the government other than paddy, including sugarcane, maize, soybean, pulses, oilseeds, etc., from the Kharif season 2021-22.

With the motive to encourage the cultivation of crops other than paddy in Chhattisgarh, this decision was finalized in the meeting led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Chhattisgarh is known as the ‘rice bowl’ of Central India because of the extensive cultivation of rice in the state.

The Public Relations department official said that the Chief Minister Baghel decided to extend the scope of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and cover all the major Kharif crops along with paddy, including maize, soybean, kodo-kutki, sugarcane, and pulses from the next season.

The official said, “under the scheme, farmers will be provided an input subsidy of Rs. 9000 per acre for the cultivation of paddy crop and all major crops from the Kharif season 2021-22."

The state government provided input support of Rs. 10,000 per acre to farmers for paddy cultivation.

He added, “If the farmers who had sown paddy in 2020-21, cultivate sugarcane, kodo-kutki, maize, soybean, pulses, oilseeds, aromatic paddy, or carryout tree plantations in place of paddy in the same field, then in place of Rs. 9000, they would be given Rs. 10,000 per acre as an input subsidy.

He mentioned that the subsidy amount will directly be transferred to the accounts of beneficiaries.
